How I spark creativity at work and home

Sometimes, creativity feels just out of reach — especially when juggling work and life. I’ve found that getting those creative sparks flying again isn’t about waiting for inspiration; it’s about creating the right conditions. Here’s what works for me:

  1. Switching up my environment
Whether it’s tidying my desk or stepping out for a quick walk, a change of scenery helps me see things differently. At work, it might mean brainstorming somewhere other than the office or away from the desk. At home, it’s about setting up a cozy corner with candles and a cup of tea (I am currently loving peppermint tea and matcha – thank you, Japan!)

  2. Diving into something new
I’ve discovered that trying something unfamiliar is a game-changer. Recently, I started experimenting with new ways to make graphics and exploring new video editing skall at work — it’s opened up new ways of thinking. At home, it could be as simple as trying a new recipe or flipping through a book outside my usual genres.

  3. Freewriting to clear my head
Keeping a journal, even if it’s just jotting down random thoughts, works wonders. It’s become a tool for both brainstorming ideas for marketing campaigns and reflecting on personal goals.

  4. Looking for fresh inspiration
I love seeking out new influences. Sometimes, it’s a marketing trend I hadn’t considered, and other times, it’s a documentary that sparks an idea I can bring to work or even my next project at home.

  5. Taking time to rest
I’ve learned that creativity needs space to breathe. A quick break or even just stepping away from a screen for a few minutes often leads to the best ideas — whether it’s solving a work challenge or planning something fun for friends and my boyfriend.

For me, sparking creativity is all about being intentional and staying curious. It’s a process, but one that makes every part of life — at work and home — more fulfilling.
